For this series of paintings, I wanted to create works of art based on non sexual acts of intimacy. I started this current body of work focusing solely on the close connection that I have with my boyfriend, small moments of joy that we shared, the moments of getting dressed after a shower, falling asleep on one’s chest. It made me start thinking of intimacy outside of not only sexual, but outside of romantic intimacy. Such as the intimacy of knowing which items are important to myself or the feeling of closeness you get with another. I titled these paintings To Be Seen is to Be Known, to Be Known is to Be Loved based off of a conversation I had talking about the importance of vulnerability, tenderness and allowing someone you love to truly know you.
